Additional information about inspection
Extent of Damage
I verified the residual fluid is dark brown in color with moderate burnt odor: some metal debris is present inside filter - no magnet was present - the final drive side bearings and races have moderate scoring - direct clutches are lightly burnt, steels appear normal - torque converter has heat discoloration at hub area - intermediate band is lightly burnt and forward drum is lightly scored - all other parts appear normal for time and miles - no external leak traces, no physical damage, no evidence of abuse.
Inspector's cause of failure
Damage results from material failure of the torque converter with subsequent damage to intermediate band, direct clutches, and final drive side bearings from metal debris distribution through fluid.
Inspector's recommended repair(Only repairs needed)
Repair or replace transmission.
